Birth trauma group provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals who have experienced birth-related trauma can:

1. Share their experiences

2. Receive validation

3. Learn coping strategies

4. Reduce isolation

5. Access resources

Our group is facilitated by Sowania Germain, LMHC, PMH-C mental health professional who has experienced & gone through birth trauma. They are led online through a HIPPA Compliant platform.


FAQs about the Group

What is Birth Trauma? Birth trauma is any physical or emotional distress you may experience during or after childbirth. During the birth, you may feel afraid, helpless or unsupported by those around you. After the birth, you may be left feeling guilty or numb due to events beyond your control. You could even suffer from panic attacks.

Dates: This group meets virtually weekly on Thursday afternoons, 2:00-3:30pm

  • Cost: $60 per a group session total cost $540 due upfront

  • If we are in network with Northwell Direct, Magnacare and NYSHIP we are able to bill your insurance carrier. The copay amount varies & we encourage clients to verify as well our billing department completes verification as well.

  • Group Consent forms & practice policies are sent through the patient portal prior to first group meeting.

  • Frequency: Groups are closed to protect the privacy of patients due to the nature of the group topic and meet weekly.

  • Where: Online groups offer virtual meetings for accessibility, allowing mothers to participate from the comfort of their homes.

  • Who: Whether your child was born recently or years ago you are welcome to join us for peer support. Led by trained peer facilitators, this group is for any birthing person who has experienced trauma (mental and/or physical) during childbirth.
